 tonya shoesmith 002 copy

"Taydem is a mini mom at home, always helpful, kind and loving.  She loves to volunteer to help her teachers at school.  They enjoy using her for tutoring, filing and sometimes she helps the subs get through the day.  She is very thorough with her work and has a way of focusing on any task.  This focus is what helped her and her family in a serious car accident.  Taydem was devastated herself, but she was able to give out important emergency information when requested when no one else could.  She was very instrumental to the investigation because of her recollection was so thorough.  When Taydem grows up she wants to work with animals.  Maybe be a specialist in a zoo or even be an animal veterinarian."

April Winner  Congratulations to Laura Vaughn!

May Winner Congratulations to  Sosie Gehling!
sosie gehling  "Sosie is one of the most self motivated, considerate, talented young people I know.  She is a definite gift to her friends, family and others.  Sosie is a freshman @KHS and keeps her plate full.  Her involvments in school this past year have been:  individual and large group speech, chorus, band, spring play, fall musical, honors english and honor roll.   A major accomplishment was writing an essay for Veterens of Foreign Wars: Voice of Democracy.  She placed first locally, first at district and 4th at state, which is usually won by older students.  She gives back to church and community by serving mass, funerals, helping at church functions and also volunteering for Animal Rescue of Carroll events.  She finds time to work at a local daycare and also babysits.  Her "self" time is spent with piano, reading, dance and of course with her family and friends.  We have known Sosie since birth and can't wait to see all she will do in the future."
 June Winner

Congratulations to Bryce Berg!

bryce student of the month 002   “Bryce is a very hard working student.  He excels in academics, athletics and personal character.  Our family could not be prouder of Bryce and his accomplishments.  He currently holds a 3.93 grade point average and his a member of the National Honor Society at KHS.  Bryce balances his academics with sports, family and a job at Uptown Sporting Goods.  Sports have always played a major part in his life.  His athletic ability has come from years and years of practice.  All of his hard work has paid off in many aspects in his life.  But most importantly, Bryce has learned the art of good sportsmanship/character on and off the court or field.  He takes pride in himself, his school, community and his family.  He is a role model to many young children, including his cousin Emma.  He takes time out of his busy schedule to visit Emma, who is only 3 years old.  This outstanding student athlete has accomplished many things by hard work and determination, but also by the love and support of his parents!  I feel honored to have watched this young man grow into such a remarkable person!”
 July Winner Congratulations Deven Billings!
student of the month- deven billings 001  “Deven is one fantastic young man!  He enjoys school and always tires his best.  He has a positive attitude and gets along well with everyone.  At 12, he is very responsible and such a deep thinker.  He plays the percussion in the school band and has also been active in Boy Scouts over the past few years.  Deven has had a paper route for almost a year now and saves every penny he earns.  He has learned from the paper route that work can be hard, but rewarding, as he received several nice cards/letters from people he delivers papers to over the holidays.  Deven seems to have a plan for everything including what he wants to be when he grows up, a carpenter/woodworker.  In Deven’s free time, he enjoys building and making things, including a food stool for his great-grandma, Mary.  He has a caring heart and loves animals.  Deven is one of a kind kid!”

November Winner Congratulations to Trey Boyle!
student of the month- trey boyle  “Trey is an honor roll student and participates in sports, football, basketball and baseball.  Trey belongs to Sacred Heart Catholic Church where he serves Mass nearly every Sunday morning.  Trey is not scheduled every Sunday, but most of the time the assignee does not show up and Trey gracefully takes the initiative to go up and fill in.  The youngest of three children he is the most respectful young man that I know to his family and elders.  Besides all these attributes, Trey is a city boy with the heart of a farmer.  He has several head of cattle he takes care of on his uncles farm, paying for their care with physical labor.  He helps local farmers with planting and harvest.  He also job shadows a local veterinarian whenever possible.  In the summer he also takes care of several lawns, mowing and trimming.”
December Winner Congratulations to Alexander Schmitz!
student of the month- alex 002

“Alex has made us very proud coming home after semester test and finishing the semester with a 4.42 grade point average and top in his class while still being able to excel with his wrestling season, he is currently 24-4 on the season.  The most warming part of all is that as his high school wrestling coach he showed concern to me one day that he was more concerned with his teammates that they were having the best season and didn’t want them to fail and not have fun.  Alex seems to always put others feelings and concerns before his own.  He is active in helping coach our youth wrestlers and loves to help his little brother and sisters with their athletics.  He is a member of the Breda Sons of the American Legion and active in the catholic church.”
